Shmoozers will remember devoting much of 2022 to reading and discussing the remarkable Tree of Life trilogy, a fictionalized chronicle of life in the Lodz ghetto under the tightening Nazi death grip.
We were able to access Chava Rosenfarb's masterpiece in English thanks to Goldie Morgentaler's dedicated translation of the author's, her mother's, work. Goldie joined us twice afterwards in unforgettable sessions reading and discussing her mother's short stories.
A new volume, In the Land of the Postscript, contains Rosenfarb's complete short stories in translation, available from The Yiddish Book Center.

Click below to read Goldie Morgentaler's essay "I. L. Peretz's Saints and Sinners" in The Tablet and join us on May 4 and May 18.
